It’s OK. You can tell Mindy Lijana her business is for the birds – as long as you know it’s also for butterflies and frogs.
Birds of a Feather & Friends carries birdhouses, hummingbird feeders, Christmas ornaments, birdseed, frog statues and other garden delights. The products include those made from recycled wood or plastic, as well as aluminum and brass items.
“We’re probably best known for our hummingbird feeders,” Lijana says, describing the feeders as decorative and “non-dripping.”
The shop is on the northeast corner of the square and is 650 square feet packed with interesting merchandise.
Repeat business comes, Lijana says, because “I know birds. People come for learning.”
Lijana opened the shop five years ago, after teaching kindergarten for 15 years. She works with small companies, carrying many U.S.-made items and doesn’t sell anything customers would find at major discount stores.
